"Our ancester" who is reputed to have come from Banff via Strathdon, where
he married the daughter of a local farmer, and finished up in Gomersal, where
he helped to build the new railway, "linking the outside world to
civilisation" (JDS).

Came to Birkenhead to help dig out the first Mersey Tunnel. Had several
children but JDS only met two, Sadie & Jim, who "came over to Clarke Gardens
a time or two". Lost touch with them in early 1930's. (JDS)
